Known worldwide for its prestigious wines, the Brunello and the Rosso di Montalcino, Montalcino, resting in an enchanting landscape, is also historically important, with its Medieval roots: the Castle of Artigiano, the Abbey of St Antimo, the Church of St Restituita, the Castle Poggio alle Mura and the Romitorio Fortress.

Well worth visiting are the Diocesan Museum and the Civic Museum (Musei Riuniti). Finally, there are the popular traditions with the Festival of the Thrush and the tournament for the opening of the hunting season.
