From the ancient port used for the transportation of marble, which gave the town its name, Forte dei Marmi has become one of the most popular bathing resorts of the Tyrrhenian sea, and an exclusive tourist destination, far from the crowds.
In addition to its seafront, visitors can see the Iron factory, the area of the Roman Empire, the Museum of Satire and Caricature and the Modern Art Gallery. Numerous events are held in the town including the renowned Festival of Satire and Caricature and the Jazz'n Forte Festival.
