Arezzo Tuscany
The city of Petrarch, a prosperous center of agriculture and craftsmanship, proud owner of a wealth of monuments and art.
Arezzo has an ancient history from the Etruscans, to the Romans, to the dominion by Medieval Florence. The city's past may be discovered in the numerous monuments to be visited: the Roman Amphitheatre, the house of Petrarch, the Bacci Chapel, the Cathedral of S. Donato, the Medici Fortress, the Museum of Medieval and Modern Art, the Palazzo Comunale, and Palazzo Vescovile.
Arezzo is the city of Francesco Petrarch. To this day the craftsmen of Arezzo continue to produce ceramics, leather goods and precious fabrics. Events such as the "Giostra del Saracino" and the antiques fair maintain the popular traditions.
