Villa Poggio ai Merli, in beautiful countryside just beyond the city of Florence, was built in the 15th century by the noble Vitelli family, close to the all powerful Medici. Today, as then, the villa occupies an extremely strategic position, minutes away from Florence and within easy reach of the important Tuscan towns of Volterra, Siena and Pisa.

In the late 1800's the villa was purchased by the influential Florentine family, the Altoviti Sangalletti. They built the small chapel which is now the "Brunelleschi" apartment. Despite the Villa having passed hands on many occasions during the past two centuries, the overall plan of the property has remained largely unchanged. The current owner, recognizing the great potential of the building as exclusive country retreat, employed the services of an expert architect and Tuscan craftsmen and women so as to realize the luxurious historical relais in the countryside at the gates of Florence. Villa Poggio ai Merli has 11 apartments offering the utmost in comfort and modern facilities including fast ADSL internet connection.

The Villa, immersed in gardens, enjoys superb views of the Tuscan hillside. A swimming pool, pine wood and large Gazebo add to the irresistible appeal of the Villa Poggio ai Merli. Old wine cellars have been converted in to the villa's exceptional and much requested function room.

In collaboration with specialized caterers and wedding planners, Villa Poggio ai Merli hosts dream weddings. For such occasions the villa is let on an exclusive use basis.
