Villa Poggiano Historical Residences
Villa Poggiano Montepulciano
Villa Poggiano is immersed in 6 hectares of parkland on hillside overlooking the Val d'Orcia, and just 2kms from the celebrated Tuscan town of Montepulciano.
The villa, dating back to the 18th century, was originally built as the summer residence of the noble Poliziana Gagnoni family. The building was altered on various occasions before assuming its present form. The most recent rebuilding work was carried out in the mid 1900's when the Signorini family sold the property to the Helmkes, of German origin.
The swimming pool, statues and fountains and numerous interior embellishments were added about 1940 in neo-classical style. The statues around the marble swimming pool were clearly inspired by those of the Stadio dei Marmi in Rome, designed by Enrico del Debbio between 1927 and 1932.
The Helmke family sold the villa in 1950 and the building subsequently changed hands on numerous occasions before being purchased by the current owners, the Savini family, in 2000, who have been responsible for the extensive restoration work which has allowed for the villa's transformation in luxury guest accommodation.
Villa Poggiano has individually appointed guest bedrooms and suites. The rooms are all furnished with antique furniture, period paintings and beautiful textiles. Large windows afford superb views of the Italian garden and swimming pool. The accommodations located in the grounds of the Villa Poggiano overlook a panorama encompassing the cornfields, vineyards and olive groves of the Val d'Orcia. The rooms are all equipped with every modern comfort including direct internet access.
