Villa Marsili introduction
Villa Marsili is situated in the medieval walled town of Cortona, on a site once occupied by an early 14th century church. When, in the late 18th century, the Archduke Leopoldo of Tuscany ordered the demolition of the region's small churches, the church was pulled down and a sumptuous residential building was erected in its place. Over the following centuries until this very day, Villa Marsili has remained largely unaltered.
Now a superb 27 room hotel, Villa Marsili offers guests a fabulous position within the walls of Cortona, with views of the towers and steeples of the ancient medieval town and out over the stunningly beautiful countryside of the Valdichiana, Mount Amiata and the Trasimeno lake.
The guest bedrooms and suites are all exquisitely decorated and frescoed, each individually furnished with period pieces and equipped with every modern convenience. Deluxe rooms and suites are particularly luxurious with spacious bathrooms featuring whirlpool baths.
Guests sojourning at the Villa Marsili enjoy breakfast in the hotel's charming breakfast lounge or, during the summer months, beneath the pergola. Tea is served by the fireplace in the sitting room or in the garden from where to enjoy spectacular views over the valley and the Trasimeno lake.
