Villa La Foce Chianciano Terme

Villa La Foce is a charming country residence situated in the heart of Tuscany's Val d'Orcia, and surrounded by some 450 hectares of farmland.

The villa dates back to the late 15th century and originally served as wayside tavern, before being incorporated in the estate belonging to Siena's Santa Maria della Scala Hospital. In 1924 the property was purchased by Antonio and Iris Origo. Together with English architect and landscape designer, Cecil Pinsent, Iris created the villa's beautiful gardens, extensive gardens which are today tended by three talented gardeners.

The interiors of Villa La Foce display all the features of a traditional Tuscan country residence, its spacious rooms paved with dark cotto tiles, and adorned with authentic items of antique furniture, frescoes and period paintings.

The main dining room of the villa is considered to be one of Pinsent's finest pieces of work: a wonderfully elegant room complete with high Venetian balustrade and 18th century style landscape paintings framed by loggia-like arches. Those wishing to dine al fresco, eat beneath the rose and wisteria covered pergola in the fountain garden, from where to enjoy a stunning view of the Orcia valley. Opposite the orangerie, there is an attractive swimming pool.

Villa La Foce offers accommodation for a total of 21 guests, and is the perfect venue for a family reunion, wedding party or vacation with a group of friends.

The Villa La Foce is situated in the Val d'Orcia, a beautiful and unspoilt valley in Southern Tuscany between Pienza and Montepulciano, recently included among the World Heritage sites of UNESCO. Chianciano Terme, Montepulciano, Pienza, Chiusi, San Quirico d'Orcia and Siena (in Tuscany), and Perugia, Assisi, and Orvieto (in Umbria) are our closest towns.
