Santo Stefano Castiglion Fiorentino

Situated in the marvellous Tuscan countryside of the Val di Chio, between Cortona and Arezzo, the Agriturismo Santo Stefano is an organic farm which has only recently opened its doors to those visitors in search of a peaceful and rejuvenating holiday in rural Tuscany.

The Agriturismo Santo Stefano centers around an ancient 12th century farmstead which, from the height of its panoramic hilltop position, gazes out over the nearby town of Castiglion Fiorentino, the Val di Chiana Aretina and the lands of Siena. A cluster of outbuildings, which once served as the farm's storerooms, have been restored and converted in attractive guest accommodation in the form of small independent apartments, each with its own private external area and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The interiors of the apartments are decorated in traditional Tuscan style. All apartments have their own, well equipped kitchen.

Agriturismo Santo Stefano's swimming pool and solarium are the perfect places where to while away the hours, surrounded by the most beautiful landscapes imaginable.

The everyday working life of the organic farm is an integral part of the Santo Stefano Farmstay experience. Guests staying at the agriturismo are given every opportunity to learn about the produce made on the farm, from the highly-prized organic honey to the Valdichiana DOC wines and vin santo, extra virgin olive oil, and aromatic herbs. Tastings and typical Tuscan suppers, and traditional Tuscany cuisine cooking classes are organised on request.

The Santo Stefano farmstay is situated in the countryside just outside Castiglion Fiorentino, a medieval town in the heart of the Val di Chio, half way between Cortona and Arezzo. From its hill-top position, the Agriturismo Santo Stefano overlooks the entire Chio valley. In centuries past Castiglion Fiorentino, the symbol of which is its medieval tower, the Torre del Cassero, was a town of great strategic importance on the road linking the Tyrrhenian sea with that of the Adriatic.
In the immediate vicinity of the farmstay, there are numerous churches, castles and monasteries to visit. The town of Cortona and the city of Arezzo are just a 20 minute drive from the Agriturismo Santo Stefano. In approximately an hour, guests reach the art cities of Florence, Siena and the towns of Montalcino, Montepulciano and Pienza. The Umbrian cities of Perugia and Assisi are also within easy driving distance.
