Palazzo Tolomei (Historical Residences) Firenze
Art and history in Florence (where else?)
Three reasons why you'll love it here
- A night in what was once Leon Battista Del Chiaro's Florentine home
- Frescoes by Alessandro Gherardini and Giuseppe Nicola Nasini
- A period residence within steps of Michelangelo's David
Palazzo Tolomei is a stunning period residence situated in the very heart of Florence. A fine example of late renaissance elegance, the palazzo's interiors date back to 1695 when they were commissioned by the property's owner, Leon Battista Del Chiaro, in preparation for his forthcoming marriage to Maria Ugolini.
Today, Palazzo Tolomei has been transformed in exclusive guest house, a transformation which has left the original wall paintings and decorative stucco work adorning the reception rooms, apartments and suites of the Palazzo intact. To these, a number of additional artworks have been added, such as the frescoes and sculptures by Giuseppe Nicola Nasini, Alessandro Gheradini and Giovanni Baratta.
Those choosing to stay at Palazzo Tolomei during their vacation in Florence experience the luxurious ambience of an authentic renaissance town house whilst enjoying all the comforts of a modern hotel. Whirlpool baths, air conditioning, and high speed internet connectivity are, in fact, standard features in all guest rooms.
A number of Palazzo Tolomei's attractive halls are reserved for guests' use, providing sumptuous environments in which to engage in pleasant conversation with other residents or relax whilst reading a good book. An unexpected feature, always much appreciated by guests, Palazzo Tolomei's frescoed fitness room offers a unique setting where to participate in step, aerobic, Pilates and yoga classes.
