Amongst the hills of Chianti there is the perfect holiday hideaway - La Locanda. This charming guesthouse is on a hill, in the countryside, just outside the little hamlet of Volpaia, near to Radda in Chianti.
La Locanda was once a farm, built in the 16th century. Today, the renovated buildings provide all you could wish for a wonderfully relaxing vacation. The stables have been converted into the lounge, library and dining room. The six bedrooms and one suite, which can accommodate up to 14 people, are in the main farmhouse building. On request, the whole property is available for single let.
La Locanda is in a truly beautiful setting, with magnificent views extending over the surrounding vineyards, woods and pastures. The panorama from the pool is particularly stunning. The old buildings, terrace and pool are surrounded with a profusion of colorful flowers and scented herbs - geranium, wisteria, lavender. When guests are not relaxing in these idyllic grounds they can wander off into the countryside or to Medieval Volpaia. For those keen to explore further afield, the famous cities of Tuscany- Florence, Siena, Arezzo are within easy reach, besides the many fascinating little Medieval hilltop towns and villages.
La Locanda is perfect not only for those who like peace and quiet and great views but also for those who appreciate good wine and food, all with a very personal service. La Locanda arranges dinners, featuring Tuscan specialties and wine, on request on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. These are served on the terrace in summer.
